Leo Hyrospact (c. 840 - after 913) is a prominent representative of the Byzantine secular philosophy of the 9th and early X century. The student of Leo Mathematics and the philosopher, the highly educated intellectual, the poet and theologian, the influential court, brilliant diplomat, a relative of the fourth wife of Emperor Leo VI, he was already slandered in front of Vasilevs and spent several years in exile, and they sounded from church circles to his address to him Accusations of religious wickedness, paganism and godlessness. The life and work of the chirospact is of interest not only in themselves, but also as a reflection of the Minors of the Byzantines of that time - the post -Konobracian era, which followed the final triumph of icon veneration.
The lion"s lithium is diverse, but not completely preserved. His epigrams and anacreontic poems, gym-graphic and exegetical works, and letters have reached us. Of particular interest is the poem “Thousands of Theology”, where Leo appears as a Christian Platonic, whose ideas about God and God"s knowledge depart from Orthodox traditionalism: instead of a religion based on faith in the goddess and salvation through church sacraments, in the poem in essence it is about the religion of philosophers .
. In the present edition, the reader’s attention is proposed to the outline of the life and work of Leo and the commented translation of his main works. The application publishes a translation of the composition of the Arefa, Archbishop of Caesarea, Hyrospact, or sorcerer.
. Kniga is intended for all of those interested in literature and culture of Byzantium
