“One hundred non -canonical strategies” (Bai Zhan Qi Lue) is a set of tactical advice, battles selected as illustrative examples, for instructions on the strategy of the art of war.
The authorship of labor is attributed to Liu Bu Van, but this remains the subject of discussions (as well as the authorship of Sun Zi).
It is obvious that the author held a high post in the military hierarchy, this is read by a deep understanding of political factors affecting military operations, by references to treatises on the art of war, and historical works.
Thus, the "non -canonical strategies" not only represent a living and systematic introduction of Chinese military science into the history of Chinese military science (with a thorough analytical approach characteristic of the author), but are one of the brightest monuments of the history of the philosophical thought of ancient China.
