The book presents a course of lectures on social philosophy read by the Mamard Mamardashvili in Vilnius in 1981. The philosopher sets out his understanding of sociality, traces complex relationships between the structure of society, its functioning and thinking. In no other text, the author does not claim so directly and consistently the dependence of thinking on inclusion in relations with other people, on what he calls the "message" and "event". This is not so much about the most social order as about what is a replaced, invisible condition for this order: about the community, which, in fact, this order breaks, about the forces of the joint existence of people, the forces of life. The book suggests re -considering the problems of freedom, responsibility, ethical and political action.
