The French thinker Rene Genon is one of the most unusual figures in the history of philosophy of the 20th century. He was in the Sufi Order of Shadiriya under the name of Abd al -Vakhid Yahya, was married to the daughter of the Egyptian sheikh - a descendant of Muhammad. Genon never taught at the university and did not consider himself a discoverer or creator of his own teaching, believing that he simply conveys truth to Europeans, understandable to any resident of the East. However, in the scientific world he is considered the author of a number of concepts and the founder of the whole direction in philosophy - traditionalism.
He set a goal to the return of mankind to tradition - the totality of "inhuman" knowledge transmitted from generation to generation Cast in the initiates. In this book, Genon makes a disappointing diagnosis of modern Western civilization, which turned out to be really visible, and offers his understanding of the possibilities of further development of human civilization.
