The book proposed to the attention of the reader is devoted to art. Taking advantage of the previously developed analytics of negativeness, the author is trying to summarize aesthetic operations and effects - the difference, comic, contrast, the first plan departure to the background - both variations of negation, expressing both riot against reality and fear of seduction of derealization. The destruction, decrease, dismantling of the primary, hypnotic image of the world is, first of all, the features of modernism of the 20th century, but the trends of this kind are also characteristic of art in general - to the extent that it is a reflection of super -lodging into a trance of things. Aesthetic negativeness in the 20th century becomes decisive, expressing the general demonism of the New Age, however, as the author shows, this destructiveness unites the elite art of "modernism", where the main thing is the negativeness of the form, with the “mass culture” that appears at the same time, which dominates the negativity content. Overcoming one -sided negativity inherent in both, like their reunion, is possible only by complete awareness of aesthetic negativeness in its unity. The book contains theoretical introduction, the analysis of individual aesthetic theories (T. Adorno, F. Laku-Labart, V. Bibikhin) and works of art of different eras (J. Swift, F. Gölderlin, G. von Kleest, A. Mandelstam, A. Platonov , A. Herman, A. Skidan, N. Scandiaki, A. Glazova)
