The textbook on social philosophy (module: philosophy of culture) introduces students to the history of cultural thought in the socio-philosophical aspect. In the first part of the manual, various cultural views are proposed from the time of antiquity to the 20th century, the second part is devoted to the consideration of culture as structural education, the basic concepts of culture are consistently revealed: the image, concrete and abstract, spiritual and material culture, knowledge, value. The third chapter actualizes the problems of conventionality in culture, the methods of representing culture in the light of ontological representations from ancient times to the present are indicated. The role of a symbol and sign in the creation of a cultural context, as well as the aesthetic nature of the social game as a significant manifestation of the culture of modernity, is demonstrated
