The intellectual biography of S. N. Bulgakov (1871-1944) in the study of Ekaterina Yevtukhova becomes a prism through which the era of the Silver Age is recreated in Russia.
The son of a provincial priest, Bulgakov became a prominent “legal Marxist”, and later a religious philosopher and finally the largest Orthodox theologian.
Talking about the spiritual evolution of Bulgakov, the author explores sharp breeds of worldviews and how they intertwined with urgent political tasks. The central place in the book is occupied by the religious-philosophical and at the same time socio-philosophical work of Bulgakov “Philosophy of the Economy” (1912), synthesizing to a certain extent its past and future intellectual and philosophical experience, as well as considered as a significant document not only of the Russian Silver Age, but and European culture Fin de Siecle
