Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) - a brilliant personality of the Renaissance. Contemporaries appreciated him as a talented painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, inventor and musician. Scientific research and discoveries of Leonardo became known and published much later. Their systematic study began only in the second half of the 19th century and became truly international.
The basis of this publication is based on the publications of the manuscripts of Leonardo da Vinci, dedicated to its great inventions and thoughts about physics and mathematics, astronomy and geology, botany and anatomy. In the book you will find long -published materials illustrated by numerous drawings of the author himself.
In Russia and abroad, one of the largest researchers of the natural science works of Leonardo da Vinci is rightfully considered V.P. Zubov (1900–1963) - an outstanding Russian scientist, philosopher, historian of science and architecture. He first translated into Russian the natural science works of Leonardo, systematized fragmentary notes from his diaries scattered through museums and private meetings of different countries, and accompanied them with comments, bibliography and an introductory article
