Ludwig Feuerbach is a great and controversial German philosopher of the 19th century.
His concept, according to which Christianity is not a religion, but the form of consciousness of man and humanity as a whole, struck contemporaries. Feuerbach urged to abandon illusions, but not to fall into pessimism, but on the contrary, to understand that nature itself is arranged in such a way as to give each of us happiness. It needs neither religion, nor in the outdated tradition, but he creates happiness for himself and others. Although Feuerbach spoke about personal happiness, he created a kind of doctrine of society as a union of different people who are ready to protect not only the general heritage, but also the feelings of each other. The influence of Feuerbach was experienced by a variety of thinkers: from Karl Marx, who saw in it the main link between the idealistic Hegel and historical materialism, to religious thinkers, who noticed a reflection of a new theology in his atheism. Feuerbach’s thoughts sound unexpectedly relevant - but the search for oneself, the meaning of life, everything high, which is in our world, is always relevant
