This work is the first in Russian historical and philosophical literature a systematic study of the formation of the philosophy of religion in Russian metaphysics of the XIX - early XX century. It traces the main stages of the formation and development of basic ideas, concepts and methodological approaches proposed by Russian philosophers of metaphysical orientation in the field of religion philosophy, and their comprehensive analysis is carried out. The author shows how and why, within the framework of this philosophy, during the XIX - early XX century. A consistent rethinking of both the basic religious concepts and ideas was carried out, and the concepts of church practice corresponding to these concepts and ideas. The methods and approaches developed by Russian thinkers are compared with developing parallel to Western concepts.
