The monograph by Pitirim Sorokin (1889-1968), published in English in 1942, completes almost 25-year studies of the largest Russian scientist on the "sociology of the revolution", "sociology of war", "sociology of hunger" and "sociology of epidemics". These "four monsters", as the sociologist calls them, still torment humanity. Although the nature of social cataclysms in our time was transformed, their sociological component, as well as the laws of human behavior, identified and described by Sorokin, remained unchanged.
The book is addressed to both sociologists and those who only get acquainted with sociology
