The book of the founder of French existentialism Gabriel Marseille (1889-1973) is devoted to social philosophy in relation to the most urgent issues of European civilization, which indicated with all the tragic acuteness after the end of World War II. The basis for the approach of these remaining topical plots of world philosophy are the basis for the approaching Marseille, the principles of the Christian humanistic worldview, the French thinker, using the phenomenological method, analyzes such phenomena as the “techniques of humiliation” of human dignity, "fanatic consciousness", propaganda, crisis of spiritual and moral values in Mass society, the decline of the spirit of selfless service, technocratization and bureaucratization of society. Marseille is not limited to the psychological and sociological level of analysis and goes to the metaphysical basis of all these problems, referring to such concepts as, for example, the eschatology of history, its goals and meaning.
