An outstanding idealist politician, a conscientious statesman, an irreconcilable fighter with tyranny and corruption, a deep theorist of rhetoric and a magnificent speaker, a flexible thinker, a brush, a philosopher close to the Stoics and a thoughtful writer who has become a legislator of words and style, Mark Tullius Cicero ( 106 BC - 43 BC) was the figure of an invariably brilliant, at times of tragic, but inspiring even in the black periods of his political and personal biography. The legacy of Cicero for centuries served Europeans with a perfect example of expressive accuracy and the richest source of knowledge about the history of ancient Rome. Even after two millennia, Cicero remains relevant, and not only as a historical source. Based on the material of his speeches, to this day we learn the principles of discussion and competent argument: skills, especially useful now, when everyone is discussing with everyone, sometimes not hearing either opponents or even themselves.
