Francesco Gvichchardini (1483-1540) - an outstanding Italian political thinker, reflecting in his works the first big crisis that Italy was experiencing during a high revival. Gvichchardini and Machiavelli became the top of the Renaissance historiography of Italy, which did not receive new strong impulses in the era of the late Renaissance and Catholic reaction. However, the tradition they laid down influenced historical thought until the beginning of the XVII century. This book contains "notes on the affairs of political and civilian", "family chronicle" and "memories of oneself", and detailed comments are given to each of the works. An article opens an article by A.K. Jivelegova, allowing to understand the personality of Gvichchardini and the historical era in which he lived and created.
