The publication that does not have analogues, organically combining the Greek-Russian bilingual and artistic album with 279 drawings, is dedicated to the new, modern reading of ancient Greek religion and mythology, which had a huge, invaluable influence on the development of culture and art of the whole world and laid the foundation of the countless religious representations About man, heroes and gods.
Irina Beletskaya --- The leading scientist-Hellenist, the author of many textbooks in the new Greek language, following the generally accepted ideas about Greek mythology, carefully selected the most interesting, “spectacular” episodes from many alternative sources, guided, first of all, by the ideas of modern Greeks About her own “principles”, briefly and capaciously outlined mythology in good, “juicy”, beautiful Greek, in the language of educated people and made an artistic translation into Russian.
Elena Shiptsova --- a well-known Moscow schedule artist, possessing a unique, instantly recognizable manner of drawing, she sequentially illustrated every episode of the Russian-Greek text. Moreover, the artistic images presented in the book do not close on the text, but expand and complement the narrative. The manner of the drawings of Elena Shiptsova can be compared with the outline of the images that have reached us on ancient ceramics, but unlike the images familiar to us, the images of ancient gods and heroes in the interpretation of Elena Sipitsova are overflowed with emotions and become closer and more understandable to the modern viewer and reader.
Three sections were included in the book: “Creation of the world”, “Titanomachia”, “Olympic gods”.
This book was prepared for printing as part of the implementation of the program Ancient Greek mythology of the Greek Cultural Center in Moscow.
The book will be interesting and useful for a wide range of readers --- from schoolchildren and teachers to researchers, for everyone who is interested in modern European civilization
