In continuation of the topic of the struggle for the adequate image of Russian philosophy, the process of gradual formation in Russia in the XVIII-XIX centuries is considered. various ideological doctrines capable of responding to the challenges of a new era of Russian history. A special role in this process was played by the beginning of the nationality, adopted by the government as an independent cultural and historical principle. It was shown that both the “Westerners” and the “Slavophiles”, believing the highest principle of the idea of the “universal brotherhood”, were in opposition to the beginning of the nationality. On the contrary, the combination of this beginning with the Christian idea of the personality has become a number of Russian thinkers by the nucleus of a philosophical concept, which the author defines as National Personalism, in which he sees the foundation of Russian national ideology that has preserved his potential. A number of specific expressions of this concept are considered, among which the “ethical nationalism” of N. G. Debolsky is distinguished. In conclusion, the author considers the metaphysical essence of nationalism and clearly distinguishes between genuine nationalism and its pseudomorphosis.
