The publication contains an anthology of translations from the Sanskrit texts of the Buddhist philosopher Digna (c. 480-540) and the works of his teacher Vasubandhu, accompanied by historical and philosophical reconstruction. For the first time in the domestic indology, the picture of the formation and early development of Indian epistemology is recreated on the basis of the texts of not only the Digniga itself, but also the fragments of the Buddhist-Brahmanist polemics dating from the Dignaga era (V-VI centuries) Much attention in the work is paid to the analysis of modern studies of Western and Indian Indologists and Buddhologists, which reveals the meaning of the concepts of the Dignagi for understanding the historical and philosophical process in India, as well as for modern discussions about the nature of cognition and consciousness.
