One of the most outstanding schools of ancient philosophy is rightfully considered stoicism-a philosophical system that has developed in the III-II century BC. e. in Greece, and later learned by Rome. The book is dedicated to the views of the epictate, the Roman philosopher-slave, one of its brightest representatives. The author, an American philosopher, biologist and publicist, uses the few but famous works of this thinker and tries to reconstruct his worldview, relying on modern language, modern style and modern narratives -making a once -outstanding stoic doctrine accessible and attractive to the reader of the 21st century.
