But people today find pleasure in reading his “experiments”. Why? Apparently, the point is that Montaigne himself is still relevant-a philosopher, intellectual, wit. One modern author called him a “typical blogger”, and in this shocking formulation there is a lot of truth. Montaigne wrote, in his own words, for loved ones, family and friends, wanting to leave “some traces” of his own character and thoughts. So he created a series of brilliant, full humor, candid texts, and the “Coverage of the Audience” turned out to be unexpectedly wide: Michelle Montaigne became a significant virtual interlocutor, adviser, friend for many generations of readers around the world
