The Netherlands philosopher-rationalist, one of the main representatives of the philosophy of the New Age, Benedict Spinoza (Barukh d"Espinoz) was born in Amsterdam in 1632 in a wealthy family of Spanish Jews, who fled here from the persecution of the Inquisition. By operating with the so -called geometric method, the philosopher considered the universe as a harmonious mathematical system and in his reasoning managed to reconcile and bring closer the medieval theocratic world of unshakable truths and the science of the New Age, which decided that only the tireless work of the mind is able to come closer to comprehending the truth.
For the "heretical" ideas of Spinoza, he was ultimately expelled from the Jewish community where he received his education, and later, although his labors gained respect in the circle of the most enlightened people of his time, the philosopher had no tendency to use the benefits of generous patronage.
