This book, belonging to the pen of a prominent Soviet economist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences E.S. Vargi, studies urgent problems of capitalism and imperialism. It posed and analyzed questions about economic laws, the role of the bourgeois state and state-monopoly capitalism, about the metroperiaalistic contradictions and the war, about the role of the bourgeoisie in the national liberation movement, the relatively impoverishment of the proletariat and the working aristocracy. A number of essays are devoted to the problems of capitalist reproduction in the post -war period, overflow capital and the norm of profit, pricing and inflation, agrarian crises and some other issues. A separate essay is devoted to the issue of the Asian production method. The book also contains a list of works by E.S. Vargi, published in 1912-1974.
