Before readers are the classical work of the outstanding Soviet economist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences E. S. Vargi, which has an attempt to show what main changes have occurred in capitalism for 60 years of the XX century, starting in 1900, and how these changes have intensified and exacerbated the characteristic Capitalism antagonistic contradictions. Based on statistics, the author explores the stages of the general crisis of capitalism. At the end of the work, the prospect of the further development of capitalism is briefly outlined, some of which, for example, the possibility of the third world war, are relevant today. The book also contains an article by E. S. Wargie on the “capital” of K. Marx, on the basis of which the author criticizes the arguments of the defenders of the theory of fundamental capitalism in highly developed capitalist countries compared to capitalism of Marx.
