The book became the first publication in the history of the Komi Republic to present generalized illustrative and informational materials about the history and present of the Syktyvkar and Vorkuta dioceses of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church, about historical monuments (including lost ones) and modern buildings representing the temple architecture of the republic. The materials were provided by the dioceses, the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Komi Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Department of the Komi Republic for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage Sites, the National Archives of the Komi Republic, the National Museum of the Komi Republic, and other organizations.
