The textbook is written on the basis of requirements and standards for the directions of preparing bachelors “Culturology” and “Philosophy” at the National Research University “Higher School of Economics”. It combines various didactic genres: the history of cultural ideas, the theoretical part with a single ideological scheme and analysis of the history of cultural eras, a collection of theoretical essays dedicated to specific “incidents”, and training materials. The textbook is equipped with an extensive bibliography, a chronological scheme and a dictionary of culturalfilosophical vocabulary. The fundamental installation of a textbook is the dominant of the history of cultural fislosophical ideas: it is assumed that the basis of learning should be the historically established corps of the leading concepts of the philosophy of culture, which is subordinate to the modern categorical apparatus of discipline. From this point of view, today"s articulation and thematization of the philosophy of culture as discipline should play the role of systematic introduction, which does not determine the ideological preferences of the student. The philosophy of culture is represented in the textbook as a single vector of thought with a natural plot of development. The experimental aspect of the textbook is the creation of a system of electives parallel to the main text. Evaltives are not a purely didactic material, but they demonstrate the main approaches of the philosophy of culture to their objectivity. This will allow a student who has mastered the conceptual material, to see how to attach him to a specific historical and cultural reality
