Nikolai Fedorovich Zolotnitsky (1851 - 1920) - botanist, historian, one of the initiators of the Russian aquarium movement, as well as international aquarium. Zolotnitsky collected entomological botanical collections, which he transferred to the Zoological Museum of Moscow State University. Since 1887, Zolotnitsky has been the secretary of the Ichthyology department of the Russian Aklimatization Society, and then the deputy chairman. In 1898, aquarists were creating a separate society - "Circle of Lovers of Culture of the Aquarium and Terrarium", the chairman of which is elected Nikolai Fedorovich. In 1905, this circle was reorganized into the Moscow Society of Lovers of the Aquarium and Indoor Plants. The Moscow City Club of Aquarists is named after N.F. Zolotnitsky.
