The book continues the series "Great Names of Russia," presenting 60 stories about the first Russian emperor Peter the Great and describing to the reader the path of his amazing life. Tsar Peter was almost the first in all respects. He was the first Russian emperor, the first "Father of the Fatherland," the first king-craftsman, master, artilleryman, admiral, engineer, architect, gardener, merchant, and the list goes on... By providing the country with access to the Baltic Sea, Peter confidently "opened a window to Europe." He created almost from scratch a regular army and navy and elevated Russia to the rank of Great Powers. Peter founded and built the most beautiful city in Russia - St. Petersburg. He devoted his entire life to the benefit of Russia and compelled all his subjects to serve this goal. Like all people, Peter was not without sin and made mistakes, the negative influence of which we still feel today. However, there is no doubt that the positives of his reign outweigh all these negatives. The book is intended for use in school lessons and is useful for home reading.
