In a collective monograph, historians and archivists conducted a comprehensive interdisciplinary study of the history of Peter the Great's family, based on a significant complex of published and new archival sources for the first time in historiography. It was filled with joyful and sorrowful events, love and conflicts, loyalty and betrayal, hopes and disappointments. Turning to unique archival materials allowed to partially open the door to the emotional world of the reforming tsar, providing an opportunity to see and evaluate his personality and the main events in the history of the royal family from a significant temporal distance. The texts of archival documents allow to get acquainted with the different fates of its members, see their relationships with the head - Peter the Great, and immerse oneself in the documentary heritage of the Petrine era. The book is intended for specialists in Russian history and readers interested in the Petrine era.
