The book is an attempt to comprehend culture in the broad context of contemporary philosophy: on the one hand, it offers the author's concept of 'permanent contemporaneity' as a definition of the existential situation of the dialogue between human and being in the duration of existence, on the other hand, the reader can look at established concepts such as 'culture', 'civilization', 'modern', 'postmodern' in a new way, and at the relationships between them. The text uses fresh concepts from continental (mainly French) political philosophy (Badiou, Rancière, Mouffe), refers to object-oriented ontology (Harman, Meillassoux, Bryant), actualizes Hegel, and responds to Slavoj Žižek's call to revive the subject. The book is addressed to all those interested in the philosophy of the subject, the philosophy of culture, and contemporary political philosophy.
