About the English kings Henry VI, Edward IV, and Richard III (especially the latter) as acting characters of the Wars of the Roses, many educated people know from the books of W. Shakespeare or R. Stevenson. In scientific works dedicated to this period, the main attention is paid to the same monarchs and other high-ranking individuals from their surroundings.
However, history is not only made by representatives of the elite but also by ordinary people, who by fate were involved in its course, information about whom, although sometimes rare and fragmentary, remains in the sources. This book is about such people, from a simple warrior to a king, who were participants in the Wars of the Red and White Roses in England in the second half of the 15th century and left even a small trace in the documents of the era or on the pages of chronicles. With the help of the prosopographical method, a database of active participants in the Wars of the Roses was created for the first time in historiography, their social structure and behavior patterns were analyzed.
