The book is devoted to the problems of scientific pedagogy in the context of the development of the humanitarian culture of the XIX century. Based on the teaching, philosophical, historical, journalistic works, as well as artistic works, the authors investigate the important aspects of the pedagogical theory of that time.
In the monograph we consider: the interaction of philosophical and anthropological ideas and pedagogical theory, the impact on its development of the controversy "Westerners" and "Slavophiles" of the mid-19th century on the possible ways of development of Russian education, the place and role of the Kiev philosophical school in the development of pedagogical ideas. The complexity and ambiguity of the political and legal process in the domestic education of this historical period, saturated with important and ambiguous events and their different interpretation are shown. The work was carried out in accordance with the plan of fundamental studies of the Russian Academy of Education 2008-2012
