The textbook was written by a group of experienced teachers - doctors of medical sciences, professors of the Institute of Clinical Morphology and Digital Medicine of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov (Sechenov University) with the participation of leading specialists from several other medical universities. The presentation of general and special pathological anatomy issues is based on the principle of the unity of structure and function. The authors tried to show not only the morphological basis of pathological processes and diseases but also their connection with changes in the body's functions, which is manifested in specific disease symptoms, as well as the dynamics of their development. This creates a basis for the subsequent study of all clinical disciplines. In addition to pathological anatomy, the textbook describes general medical concepts, rules for writing clinical and pathoanatomical diagnoses, categories and reasons for discrepancies in diagnoses, and more. All of this contributes to the development of clinical thinking in students, which is only possible based on deep knowledge and understanding of the regularities of pathological processes in the diseased body. Thus, the study of pathological anatomy is a crucial stage in the preparation of a doctor, and this textbook corresponds to this task.
