Twice a year, the grandfather comes home from abroad to visit his adult children. His son is a failure. His daughter is expecting a child from the wrong man. Only he, a patriarch seasoned by life, is almost perfect - at least, that's how it seems to him...
The novel "The Father's Contract" tells with irony and bitterness about how difficult it is to find common ground with the closest people. What does it mean to be a good father and husband, mother and wife, son and daughter, sister or brother? It seems like our roles change, but how to find a balance between family obligations and personal freedom, the desire to be close to those you love, and the temptation to run away from those who sometimes hurt you?
