The publication is the translation into Russian of the book of famous Syrian archaeologists, most of their lives devoted to the study of Palmyra, a monument included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. First published in Arabic in 1977, the book was translated into European languages and withstood several publications. This translation was made from an English -speaking publication, published in 1987
