The memoirs of Major General Paul Emil von Poydetov-Borbek talk about hostilities in German East Africa. The author during the First World War commanded the German troops in the colony, only 261 European and 4680 natives were subordinate. With these small forces, von Lettov-Forma, during the war years, successfully opposed the larger enemy detachments.
