Pyotr Arkadievich Stolypin (1862-1911) belongs to those personalities of Russian history, the accomplishment of which and after centuries continues to arouse deep interest and arouse disputes, because they never manage to set the “final” assessment.

The public - its best part that foresaw the disaster and was horrified to her - did not identify herself with the authorities.
many wanted to save Russia - units were ready to save the throne. In essence, the non -sounding king was forced to seek support in extremely chauvinistic circles. And all any talented and state-minded people either lacked will, or responsibility, or devotion. Everyone wanted to be citizens, they no longer wanted to remain subjects, but have not yet learned to be decent people. At the right moment, Russia did not have the right “human material”: there were more destroyers than builders.
Under these conditions, the planned and partially carried out by P. A. Stolypin and his like -minded people is truly grandiose. Interrupted by his death and the reform that began soon by the world war could really save the empire. Stolypin was absolutely right: without peasant reform, it was impossible to reform Russia. He did not have enough life for this. Russia did not have a few peaceful years to get out of the crisis. The way out was visible - and the country was moving towards him.
