The monograph examines the specifics of the graphic illustration in periodicals, the dynamics of the relationship "Illustration - Text" in historical retrospective and modern practice, outlines the causes and factors that influenced their transformation. The formal, functional and cognitive features of modern graphic illustration in the press are described. The results of sociological content analysis of graphic illustrations in modern quality publications are given and analyzed.
