The textbook is written in accordance with the requirement of the State Educational Standard for Teaching of the General Professional Discipline "Fundamentals of Materials Science", and is intended for the training of specialists of engineering professions of secondary vocational education in professions: 01/15/23 "Makers and equipment in mechanical processing, 01/15/24" Notebook , 01/15/25 "Marineer (metalworking), 01/15/26" Tokar-Universal ", 01/15/27" Klezer-Universal ", 01/15/28" Glifovalshik-Universal ". 01/15/30 "locksmith", 01/21/03 "Auto mechanic".
The textbook examines: the crystalline structure of the metal, crystallization processes, plastic deformation and recrystallization. The phases formed in alloys, and state diagrams, modern structural, fuel and lubricants are described. Modern test methods and criteria for evaluating the constructive strength of materials, the methodology for preparing samples for testing and conducting the tests themselves are set out. Much attention is paid to the theory and technology of heat treatment. Practical recommendations are given on choosing the method and regime of thermal and chemical-termic treatment
