The publication was prepared at the Moscow St. Philaret's Orthodox Christian Institute by Prof. Priest Georgy Kochetkov with a group of philologists. These translations are made from Greek and Slavic sources and are the result of many years of scientific-theological, liturgical, and pastoral-pedagogical work. They are entirely oriented towards the existing tradition in the Russian Orthodox Church and can serve as a unique aid not only for clergy, theology students, and catechists but also for all those seeking the fullness of spirit and meaning in the worship of the Christian Orthodox community.
The second edition includes, as an appendix, the main prayers from the Brotherhood Rite, which existed in Russia until the mid-17th century.
