The creativity of Vologda poets and writers is considered from the perspective of Orthodox ethics and aesthetics. The land, blessed by the light of Orthodoxy, has given birth and raised a whole constellation of writers and poets who reflected this blessed light in their works. The purpose of this book is to show how the spirit of Orthodox faith is embodied in artistic images and poetic symbols in the works of Vologda wordsmiths. The book presents the works of writers and poets in this context, who have very different spiritual experiences and stylistic characteristics. What unites them is their commitment to the Orthodox tradition in relation to life, homeland, and the Russian word. The composition of the book is based on words that are key to the Orthodox self-awareness of the Russian people: Holy Rus, faith, truth, love, patience, beauty, prayer, joy, sadness, word, repentance, unity, and some others. Each of these words became the title of a corresponding chapter and determined its theme. The book is intended for philologists, local historians, teachers, as well as students and postgraduates.
