This book is for everyone who designs and builds linear structures (iron and highways, pipelines, channels, etc), learns to design and build or create design automation tools for their practical application.
It summarizes more than 40 years of experience in research and software developments in this area. The theoretical foundations of computer generation of design solutions based on mathematical models, modern methods and optimization algorithms and design programs are presented. Information about new design systems, in which the design programs have found practical application are given. These systems belong to the Intelligence Systems class (intelligent systems).
The mathematical apparatus used in the book is minimized and is explained in the text, which ensures an understanding of optimization algorithms in the presence of mathematical training in the volume of the program of a conventional technical university.
