The monograph is dedicated to theoretical issues of linguistic geography related to the interpretation of linguistic maps. By utilizing extensive material from the 'Common Slavic Linguistic Atlas', the author discusses its high interpretational potential in understanding the vocabulary presented on the Atlas maps and defining chrono-topo-isoglosses. The monograph answers the question of what the maps of the Atlas convey. How does the picture of lexical connections between Slavic dialects correlate with the data of historical phonetics of Slavic languages? According to the author, the maps of the 'Common Slavic Linguistic Atlas' also illustrate the cultural and linguistic differentiation of Slavic dialects.
