The book by the well-known Israeli writer David Markish, "Only Three Hours of Flight," includes stories written in different years, including brand new ones, mainly united by the theme of repatriation from the USSR and Russia - in most of the texts, this boundary becomes the plot-forming element. However, the author interprets the theme of departure more broadly - as a metaphor for the Jewish destiny in general and simply as a search for one's place and path in the world. The book also reflects on the actions of biblical prophets and the current events of the recent pandemic. Everything is close - no more than a three to four-hour flight away.
