Former architect Frank Kittridge is serving a life sentence for killing a drug dealer who sold drugs to his son. Therefore, when a private space company that owns a prison offers him a deal, he agrees. He has been chosen to help build the first permanent base on Mars. Unfortunately, his fellow inmates are just as guilty of their crimes as he is, and he will have to learn to trust them if they want to succeed.
