The hero of the new novel by Fan Yipin, Papa Stubborn, earned his nickname at the age of fourteen, and his long, long life only confirmed the justice of this nickname. Some called him Buddha - but to remain a Buddha in 20th century China, one needs a lot of stubbornness. One hundred years of wars, changes, reforms, revolutions. This is a story about a man who never once betrayed anyone. The author of the novel, Fan Yipin (b. 1964), is of Zhuang nationality, hailing from the mountainous regions of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southwest China, a graduate of Fudan University. He is a writer of novels, novellas, and short stories. The film "Missing Gun," based on his screenplay, became the highest-grossing film in China in 2002 and brought the writer to the attention of a wide audience. In 2018, his novel "Mount Tian'de Shan" was released in Russian by the Hyperion publishing house.
