Readers are offered a book by the Russian historian and philologist S.P. Shestakov (1864-1940), dedicated to the study of the origin of the poem 'Iliad', attributed to the legendary ancient Greek poet Homer. The work presents an outline of the history of the so-called Homeric question, as well as an analysis of the 'Iliad' from the perspective of the 'grain theory', according to which Homer was the creator of only a small poem, later developed by other authors into two works - 'Iliad' and 'Odyssey'.
