When talking about the intelligence service of the GDR, the name Markus Wolf usually comes to mind - the grandmaster of the "Cold War". However, he was not the only one. Shortly before the Great Betrayal of 1989, Wolf retired, handing over his position to his best student - General Werner Grossmann. This book is the result of his long reflections. Based on real facts from his practice, memories of meetings with friends and former ideological opponents, W. Grossmann evaluates the years of confrontation between the two systems, of which he was a witness and an active participant, the struggle of the GDR intelligence and other Soviet allies for peace and stability against the escalation of the "Cold War" into a "hot" one, up to the use of nuclear weapons. And, of course, the bitter days of the fall of his country, betrayed by the Gorbachev leadership.
