Journalist and children"s writer Sergei Bezborodov became a member of the wintering of the Soviet Polar Observatory on the earth of Franz Joseph, the northern northern human settlement in the world, in 1933/34. In this book, there is an exciting story about the life of winter workers, about difficult life, hard work and dramatic events that occurred during the expedition. The book has a complex fate. In 1937, shortly after it was printed, the author was arrested, and the circulation was destroyed. The text and illustrations are restored according to one of the few preserved specimens.
The series "ex Cineribus" is devoted to books that were lost or undeservedly forgotten as a result of Stalinist repression. The Gulag History Museum, the memory fund and the White Crow"s publishing house return the destroyed books and the memory of their authors.
