Roman Empire, mid-1st century AD. After victories in Britain and its proclamation as a new province, Emperor Claudius turns his attention to the east, to the shores of the Pontus Euxinus, where a new war is already brewing. Recently occupying the throne of Bosporus, Mithridates VIII, descendant of the formidable Pontic king Mithridates VI Eupator, is plotting to break free from Roman control and restore the former power of his kingdom.
