“On the edge of the Oikumena” is a well-known novel of the founder of modern Russian fiction, philosopher and paleontologist Ivan Efremov. The action of the first part of the novel, “Baurjed"s Journey”, takes place in ancient Egypt and tells of the expedition to the mysterious country Punt, located on the border of the world known to the Egyptians. The second part sets out the adventures of the young Greek sculptor Pandion in Greece, in Crete, in Egypt and in many areas of the African continent. Skillfully combining many reliable historical facts with a fascinating plot, Ivan Efremov managed to create, perhaps, the most interesting and exciting book about the culture of Hellas and Ancient Egypt
