According to Jung's ideas, causal conditioning by the individual has only a mediated significance when we talk about works of art. The special meaning of a genuine work of art, in Jung's opinion, lies in the fact that it breaks free from the constraints of personal sphere into the vast expanse, leaving far behind all the temporality and impermanence of limited individuality. The collection includes works in which Jung reflects on creators and their creations using examples such as Sigmund Freud, Paracelsus, Picasso, James Joyce, and others.
